Frequently Asked Questions

What’s required for tonneau cover install?

Nothing. Our tonneau covers are created to be truly plug and play- all three interfaces to OEM interior trim are provided: carbon-filament attachment clips utilize your OE mounting provisions, hatch straps loop over your stock hatchtrim hooks, and rubber padded bushings isolate the cover from contacting interior plastics while in motion.

What’s the difference between R1 and Touring?

R1 covers are made for cars without the Bose Acousticwave sound system. As these older systems fail, most owners replace them with more modern hardware that also increases trunk space. R1 and base cars came without the Bose system. Touring covers have two holes for those that have retained the original Bose speakers that poke out of the top, that came with Touring models.

What’s the different logotype options all about?

We offer our covers to match your factory design aesthetic, so our laser etched aluminum logos come in your choice of ‘93 or ‘99 “RX-7” logotypes. Earlier branding used a more simple, wider and sans-serif logotype, whereas Mazda moved to a more “premium” serif style typeface for the ‘99 and newer models. The earlier ‘93 logotype will be consistent with your rear bumper and R1 strut bar logos, whereas the ‘99 style will match official branding such as brochures and front plate in marketing materials.

Can I customize my logo plaque?

Unfortunately, in the interest of making these accessible to as many as possible, we aren’t able to offer customizable logos at this point. Our efforts to reduce complexity means these savings are passed onto you.

Why are these priced so low, given the expense and time that it took to develop?

Compared to websites that aim to price specialty enthusiast products as premium parts, a tremendous effort was made in the manufacturing phase to make these accessible to as many as possible. Dozens of potential manufacturing partners were evaluated in our quest for highest quality possible while being half of the expected cost.

Our goals were never to start a business selling parts. We just wanted to create completely unique stuff for our own personal cars, but after the tremendous support from the rotary community, we’re making these available for everyone.

Can I spec mine with forged carbon?

Yes, but the increased material cost adds an additional USD$150 to the price.

Will these fade in the sun?

We understand not all FDs are lucky enough to live indoors, so these covers are all finished in a matte UV protectant clear coat that should last for years.

Can I get mine with a gloss finish?

We recommend against gloss as the reflective properties in the rear glass could be too distracting in full sunlight. However, if you’d prefer a gloss finish, please contact us and we’ll try to accommodate your requests in a future run.
